You may be asking yourself, why are there so many types of juicers (or) what exactly is a juicer anyway? In short, it is a kitchen appliance that helps the user (you), to extract the natural juices from all sorts of various fruits and vegetables. Although you can very easily squeeze an orange with your hand, let's be honest in saying that it is almost impossible to squeeze carrot juice from a carrot with your bare hands.

At the same time, you certainly don't want to miss out of all the benefits that a carrot, or other vegetables and fruits can bring. Hence, if you would like to get the valuable sources present in such vital vegetables and fruits then you definitely have to buy a juicer which can easily extract these healthy juices from any soft or hard vegetable and fruit without having to put forth much effort.

Shopping for a juicer can be overwhelming. Just as with other appliances, they are produced by a variety of different companies. Just the same, only some companies produce quality juicers and the decision of choosing the most efficient juicer available for your task or job is totally and completely up to you. Some juicers may be noisy, some quiet, some produce less juice extracts, some more, and so on. Every juicer has its own merits and demerits!

So, first on the list of the types of juicers we'll explore is the very popular and affordable centrifugal juicer:

Centrifugal Juicers

Juiceman JM550

Centrifugal is a type of juicer that will mill the fruits and vegetables first, and then pushes it through a sieve by rotating at an extremely high rpm. This method typically produces a larger amount of juice content.

As you shop around, you may notice all different features to this type of juicer. Some will have a large gentle-slope which is ideal for drawing out juice from whole sections of fruit. This reduces the initial arrangement of peeling and dicing. Some will be very easy to use. So much so, even a kid can prepare their own glass of juice with it!

The clean-up process will also be easy and convenient depending on the design. On that same note, some models will include a high speed motion which makes the juice oxidize. This can cause the juice to have less content of beneficial enzymes and nutrients.

Meet the Twin Gear

Twin Gear Triturating Juicer Part

Another type of juicer in the Triturating (which is a twin gear) machine which you will notice in comparison to the others, that it functions at a slower rpm. It involves a two-step process system or mechanism.

In the first step, the machine just compresses the vegetables and fruits, while the second process involves the pressing of the juices. This process will give you more fibers, proteins, vitamins and other trace elements just like a Masticating juicer machine.

These types of juicers also include a magnetic technology and bio-ceramics which slows the process of oxidation. What this means to you as a user us that it is very good and efficient if you would like to preserve the juice and drink some later.

These juicers are excellent even for juicing leafy greens, cabbage, root vegetables, wheat grass, beets, carrots and certain not fleshy (non-pulpy) fruits. Although it may take the juicer some time to process the fruits and vegetables because of the twin gears and its overall size, many find it well worth the wait because of its production of high quality juices.

Choosing a Masticating Juicer

Omega 8004 Juicer - Masticating Single Gear

The Masticating juicers operate at a slower chewing speed. It chews the fiber and smashes the cells of fruits and vegetables. This means you are getting far more fiber, proteins, vitamins and other essentials which is obviously what you want!

These types of juicers are also more flexible than the other sets of juicers. Besides extracting juices, the homogenizer unit makes sauces, baby food, nut butters, ice cream, and sorbet, which makes it all the more popular. Masticating juicer only use a single gear mechanism.

Due to the slow process of extracting the juice, Masticating juicer provides a high quality juice. If you were looking at a juicer scale, Masticating Juicers fall somewhere in between triturating (twin gear) and centrifugal juicers when it comes to benefits related to health.

The Citrus Juicer

Breville Citrus Juicer

Just as in the name, a Citrus Juicer can only make juice extracts from citrus related fruits such as grapefruits, oranges, and lemons.

You will have to compress half of the fruit into a revolving cone which will ream the fruit.

Some of these fruit juices have lids which will assist in the compressing job, but bare hands will have to be used to press the fruit to the spinning cone.

These types of juicers generate good quality juices and do not need any dicing or peeling. You only have to slice the fruit into two halves. They are quick and easy for you to use!
